Overcoming Self-Doubt

Recently, I’ve been visited by an old, familiar acquaintance.

Self-doubt.

Self-doubt visits whenever I feel uncertain about my abilities or unsure about any next steps I’m considering. It’s a feeling that settles like a rock in my belly. All that I experience in life can be colored by self-doubt, making me more sensitive in my interactions with others. I’m also prone to creating untrue stories about what’s happening around me.

One thing that’s certain about self-doubt is that it isn’t just a “me thing.” I’ve had enough conversations with others to know that self-doubt is something we all experience from time to time.

I’ve also noticed how we don’t like to talk about it.

That’s understandable! Who would want to admit to self-doubt and risk seeming unprepared, weak, or incapable in some way? We have our own ways of pretending that we aren’t being visited by self-doubt. But when we’re alone, the voice of self-doubt can be overwhelming.

Self-doubt makes us question ourselves. It can limit us and keep us small. We can even stay STUCK in a life we’ve outgrown.

One of the things I’ve learned is that the intentions behind self-doubt are actually NOBLE.

In this episode of Growing in Uncertainty, I discuss this very notion.

Because it has been a frequent visitor in my life, I have so much to share about coming to terms with self-doubt and how to work through it in effective and empowering ways. Therefore, this video will kick off a series of SELF-EMPOWERMENT videos to come!
