Transition Traditions

Happy New Year!

How are you feeling as we transition to a new year?

I know that technically, time is something we humans have constructed, and it doesn’t really exist. But there’s something remarkable about being able to acknowledge and appreciate the cycles in our lives. It’s an opportunity to take a moment to reflect on how far we've come in 12 months, and it just feels good to take one calendar down and put up the new one.

How are you celebrating and/or acknowledging this transition?

My personal traditions around transitioning from one year to the next have evolved over the last several years. For a long time, New Year’s Eve parties were a way to distract myself from the post-Christmas Blues. There wasn’t anything special about what I did other than to focus on ringing in the new year with friends and family.

In the last 5 years, I’ve incorporated more empowering activities that not only lift my post-Holiday vibration but also keep me engaged in my personal development throughout the year. Instead of needing a distraction from my end-of-year sadness, I’m finding that I look forward to when the Holidays will be over so that I can do my New Year Transition Tradition.

What do I do?

I make 3-D Snowflakes, for one. But that's just my way of celebrating Winter. I also choose a Focus Word.

Choosing a Focus Word for the year is like setting an intention. The difference is that I am not imposing any kind of expectation for what I want to have achieved by the end of the year. I just want to know more about myself in relationship to the word I’ve chosen.

Why no expectations? Don’t I actually want to accomplish something over the course of a year?

Of course I do.

But who am I being if I say that my year will only be viewed as a success if I’m able to lose weight or make more money or get a better job? These are very narrow expectations that can easily turn into self-blame and shame if anything happens to cause me to stray from that path. I’ve learned all too well that there can be unexpected twists and turns or the inevitable fork in the road of the yearly cycle. And the best way to keep going on any path is to be prepared to adapt and make empowered decisions.

By choosing a word for the year, I’m inviting all the lessons that are best for my personal development in all areas of my life. It’s about allowing myself to evolve and grow in ways that are natural and organic. I’m choosing to stay open to the opportunities that aren’t here yet but will come. If I envision my life progress in only one way, I might miss out on something even better!

Last year, my Focus Word was FREEDOM. In this episode of Growing in Uncertainty, (the first episode for 2022!) I present my realizations, revelations, and challenges related to FREEDOM. I also reveal my 2022 Focus Word! And I FINALLY share what I am planning to offer through my sound healing and coaching business to help with whatever is STUCK in body, mind, and soul.

Finally, I want to ask for your help. My hope is to help more people transition from being STUCK to being in FLOW. If you have benefited from my messages on any of my social platforms, please like, share, and/or subscribe so that more people can find me. And, if there’s anyone in your life who you think would benefit from my messages, offerings, and writings, please share my info with them!

Thank you so much for your support and helping me get the word out that it’s okay to be STUCK, but you don’t have to stay there!

May you be more YOU in 2022!
