Ever get STUCK in a dream?
I got STUCK in a dream the other night. I had forgotten an instrument I needed for a concert and was trying to get back to my car. No matter how hard I tried, there were obstacles preventing me from getting very far. At some point in the dream, I remember thinking, “I wish this was a dream!” After what felt like hours, I finally did wake up and was relieved that it WAS a dream.
As I reflected on that dream, I realized that there was something familiar about it. There was that sense of not getting anywhere no matter how hard I tried. And there was the fact that I was STUCK!
I also realized that there have been times in my waking life when the dreams that I once had for myself were no longer what I wanted. Feelings of shame would come up for me as I contemplated going against an old commitment I made to myself.
I was STUCK!
When we set our hearts on something, and it doesn’t happen, sometimes we can get STUCK on “the dream.” For example, I once applied for a job that was a perfect match for me. For weeks, I imagined myself in the job and loving life. In this waking dream, I finally achieved success!
When I didn’t even get an interview for the job, I was crushed. I couldn’t let go of the dream my imagination had been spinning.

A waking dream can consist of unrealistic thoughts, limiting beliefs, and mindsets that no longer work. These become patterns like bad dreams in which we get STUCK. It can be easy to get swept up in the hamster wheel of these patterns but letting them go and waking up to new thoughts patterns can be very challenging.
