Standing at the Crossroads

Updated: Jan 12, 2021

Recently, I had some interesting realizations as a result of a huge mistake I made.

Our weekend plans had to change, and I neglected to cancel an appointment with a client. I really thought I had. But, when she texted, asking whether we were still meeting, I realized instantly that I didn't. And I felt terrible!

I decided to remain open to the experience and discovered that I was on the brink of falling into a very old pattern developed in my childhood. And yet, because I was aware that I was on the edge of this pattern, I also knew that I could choose differently this time if I wanted.

I was at an internal crossroads.

Do I follow my usual pattern? Or do I try something new? What would the something new be? Would the something new be the “right” way to handle this? What’s right and what’s wrong?

Daring to get out of an old pattern is one of the most courageous things we can do in our lives. It’s also one of the most challenging! It doesn’t feel right, but to continue doing what we’ve always done promises results that we know we won’t reflect who we want to be. We can think of all kinds of reasons why the new way might not work, and at the same time, we have dozens of real-life examples of why our pattern harms more than helps.

To find which path I chose and to get tips on how to break out of your patterns, watch my video!
